Want an awesome way to bring a little horror to your iPhone? Don’t bother with the usual boring apps you can get on the app store, get something a little different and get a horror app – they are way more fun.

Halloween AppsTake a look at this one for example, its an app that streams only horror movies of your choice directly to your iPhone. The best part? They are all free! Once you pay for the app itself that is. So how much is it? Well, if you have a spare 99 cents handy – its yours. Not exactly the most expensive app available, but its definitely one of the better ones. There is a great selection of classic horror movies to choose from here, just take your pick. Watch wherever you go, on your way to work, in bed, waiting for a train etc. Makes your time a little more interesting, and that of those around you, especially if you have no earphones! :)

On a technical note: it has been brought to my attention that the above app does not always work on an un-jailbroken iPhone. I’m not sure about this, and I have no way of testing it since my iPhone is jailbroken, and has been for a long time. If you haven’t actually got a jailbroken iPhone and want to unlock it, then I high recommend doing so, since the advantages are enormous. You can unlock iPhone 4 here, (its a software unlock, which is easier than it sounds).  It does all the iphones too, not just the iPhone 4 which is what I have. I just randomly pulled this link of a quick search I did, I think this is actually the site I used to unlock and jailbreak my iphone, it looks like the one anyway, but there are loads others if you look for them, I can’t guarantee the quality of the others though, since I haven’t used them and this one offers a decent price. Once you have jailbroken your iPhone you can use any app from anywhere, not just the Apple store any more, so it opens up a lot of possibilities, that are so useful. I won’t go into it too much here, but just search for what you can do with a jailbroken iPhone, and I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Halloween iPhone appHere’s another great app for anyone on Halloween or us Kauhu-ers on any day of the year! :) This app detects your location and gives you details of any haunted areas where you are. Pretty cool huh? You can also type in any location you like and if you are feeling brave enough go there to visit. Has loads of cool details on the ghost, what happened to them and the sighting that people still have of them now. Definitely worth the 99 cent download fee I think.

Got any more cool apps you have found that you would like to share with the rest of the Kauhu community? Let us know now in the comments section below, and we will post them here.

We all love horror movies, no matter how far into the genre you go, there is always something for everyone, whether its Saw 12 6 or even The Wizard of Oz, everyone has their favorite scary movie. What’s yours? I have compiled a list of my favourites here:

1.The Nightmare Before Christmas

A classic, I first saw this when I was little and has loved it ever since. A great movie, and its even suitable for kids too. One of the best movie soundtracks ever too, that was even covered by a group of well known singers a couple of years ago. The album is pretty good., its called “Nightmare Revisited” if you want to check it out.

2. The Ring

This movie had everything. Atmosphere, an intriguing story line, no over the top, dumb acting that you usually get with this kind of story, cleverly written and well acted. It gets 5 stars from me every time. This movie has elements of thriller and mystery weaved through the scary moments, which makes it a top quality movie, definitely worth watching.

3. Ghost Ship

A different take on a maritime disaster movie, Ghost Ship seems somewhat low budget, but definitely a high quality film. Great atmosphere, great acting, great cast, unique story concept. Great soundtrack too. Check it out if you haven’t seen it.

4. Triangle (if you haven’t heard of it look it up)

Triangle is an awesome movie, although I wasn’t sure if I should include it in a horror movie list or not. It definitely contains some elements of horror, but is mainly a clever story line, wrapped in mystery and occasionally a little gore. This film wasn’t exactly a commercial success from what I can gather, I just saw it in a DVD shop and though it sounded interesting, but I had never heard of it before then. On the plus side though, this means you can get it really cheap.

5. Signs

This movie terrified me when I first saw it, and the second time (10 years later, quite recently) just as much, even though I knew exactly what was going to happen. M. Night. Shyamalan is undoubtedly the best director ever. His movies over the last 10 years are some of the best written and best directed I have ever seen. Every scene is carefully written and directed to make, well, there no other way to say it, poetry in motion. The result is a beautiful blend of brilliant visuals, excellent acting, and unique concepts and story lines you don’t usually see in other movies. 5 stars from me. The Village could have been in this position too, as it is just as scary, check them out if you have seen and enjoyed any of his other films (and if you haven’t, and enjoy quality movies).

6. The Descent

This movie is definitely worth watching. Puts a whole new spin on rock climbing that’s for sure. The movie really jumped the shark though with the totally unnecessary sequel, the story (or lack thereof) was just not plausible sorry, just another attempt by film-makers to squeeze some more money from the movies decent name.
